1. Richest neighbourhood
Deep Water Bay is also home to some seriously deep pockets. This is not only Hong Kong’s richest neighbourhood, but with an estimated total wealth of $953 billion within its borders, it’s one of the largest concentrations of wealth in the world. Nineteen of the city’s richest billionaires, including Li Ka-shing, the Kwok brothers and Malaysia’s Robert Kuok, are among its residents.

2. Richest man
At the top of our Hong Kong rich list, Li Ka-shing is the wealthiest man in Asia, worth around $315 billion. Since starting his business career in the 1950s, Li has steadily built his international empire into what it is today. As chairman of CK Hutchison Holdings, there’s very little he doesn’t have a hand in – from 3 mobile, to ParknShop and even Hong Kong Electric. But, the plainly dressed businessman is also one of Asia’s greatest philanthropists, giving huge sums to charities and causes every year. Guess he can afford it, mind.

3. Richest family
Running a family business is never easy, but the Lees seem to have it down to an art, as they’re our city’s richest family, worth around $187 billion. Lee Shau-kee, the founder of Henderson Land Development, a real estate operator, is supported by his eldest son as vice chairman, while his youngest son doubles as vice-chairman and managing director.

4. Richest brothers
Thomas, Raymond and Walter Kwok might be famous for all the wrong reasons, but they remain the richest brothers. The three, with a combined wealth of around $145 billion, were originally all chairmen of Sun Hung Kai properties, Asia’s largest real estate company, which they inherited from their father. However, in 2014 Walter parted company with the firm, the same year, after being sentenced to five years in prison for bribery, Thomas also resigned, leaving Raymond as the sole chairman.

5. Richest immigrant
Hong Kong is undoubtably a city built by immigrants, but the Shanghai-born Peter Woo is one of the richest to come here from somewhere outside the Pearl River Delta region. Arriving here as an infant, Woo has become a dominant tycoon now worth around $56.6 billion. As chairman of Wheelock and Company Limited and The Wharf Holdings Limited – owners of the Star Ferry, Harbour City and Times Square – he has become a cornerstone of Hong Kong’s landscape.

6. Richest woman
The region’s richest woman is none other than Pansy Ho, the daughter of Macanese business magnate Stanley Ho. After a brief acting career, Ho moved on to other ventures. Now worth a cool $38.8 billion, she is the managing director of Shun Tak Holdings, which runs TurboJet and Macau Tower, and co-chair of MGM China.

7. Richest bachelor
Those looking for an eligible bachelor would be wise to look at the offspring of Li Ka-shing. Richard Li, his youngest, has a sizable empire of his own, and his personal wealth of $36.4 billion makes him Hong Kong’s richest bachelor. Though at 49 Li’s no spring chicken, the chairman of PCCW and Pacific Century Group, is a business juggernaut.

8. Richest under 35
The richest person under 35 is Adrian Cheng, the executive vice chairman of the New World Development group and founder of the non-profit K11 Art Foundation, among other positions. Worth around $10.85 billion, Cheng is the grandson of the late famed billionaire Cheng Yu-tung and has fostered a more cultural city with projects such as art malls and interests in promoting Chinese art under the K11 brand.

9. Richest celebrity
Hong Kong-born Jackie Chan may be second to legend Bruce Lee in our hearts but he’s our richest celebrity, worth approximately $2.7 billion. The actor, martial artist, film director, stuntman, singer and entrepreneur is definitely a cultural icon – we just wish he would stick to the big screen instead of politics.

10. Richest child star
Best known as the little girl from the Maxim’s commercial, six-year-old Celine Yeung has starred in television ads for McDonalds, Hello Kitty and has even made an appearance on the TVB series Every Step You Take. Believed to now be worth at least $2.3 million, the young star garnered some unwanted controversy recently from an inappropriate photo book, but we’re sure we haven’t seen the last of our richest little idol.
