A Heavenly King returns

You’d have to be living under a rock in Hong Kong to not know singer Leon Lai. With eternally boyish good looks, corny yet catchy songs and a smooth baritone voice that continues to captivate the masses, Lai has long been a mainstay in Hong Kong’s music scene. Though he’s been out of the limelight for a while, Lai returns to the stage for a special event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his music career.

Like many artists in Hong Kong, Lai first came onto the music scene through the New Talent Singing Awards. After being named second runner-up in 1985,  he secured a recording contract and quickly released his gold status debut album, Leon. Along with three other popular male singers at that time – Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung and Aaron Kwok – Lai was dubbed one of the “Cantopop Four Heavenly Kings”, a sure sign of his eternal superstardom on our shores.

Throughout his career, Lai has released nearly 60 albums, topped the charts multiple times, and picked up nearly 40 prestigious music awards. He’s also maintained a prominent film career, starring in more than 40 movies, often as the romantic lead, and has subsequently won the hearts of generations of adoring fans.
His upcoming anniversary concert series, Random Love Songs, will be complemented by a backdrop of Victoria Harbour’s dazzling evening skyline. Get romantic with Lai as he performs in a specially built tent which features a 4D stereo surround sound system. For eight nights, Lai will take a trip down memory lane, performing upbeat dance numbers as well as his many romantic ballads.
