Check in: W Bangkok

Bangkok is one of the most convenient getaways from Hong Kong. And it’s one of the most exciting cities in Asia. But, when you go there, you need an amazing hotel. Like the W Bangkok. The beauty of this place, even before you step inside, is that it’s outside the oh-so-traffic-jammed-up city centre without being on the fringes either. Open since July 2014, the W Bangkok is located in the business district of Silom, just two Skyrail (Bangkok’s monorail system) stops away from the city’s shopping mecca, Chitlom.

The rooms
With names such as Fantastic, Wonderful and Wow, you know you can expect something out of the ordinary when it comes to the rooms at the W. The vibrant décor, with patterns of Thai dragons and sequined boxing glove cushions, creates an energetic vibe. There are 437 rooms, ranging from a humble 441sq ft space to a majestic 2,314sq ft one. All of them include a pillow menu, a 40-inch flat screen LED TV and a docking sound bar system that’s all controlled by a tablet.

The facilities
On the first floor is the Kitchen Table, which features a full breakfast buffet in the morning and, throughout the day, the menu reverts back to a modern bistro, dishing up a balance of East meets West and raw-and-cooked cuisines. The ground floor is home to the internationally famous Woobar, which offers fun events all year round. The futuristic environs of the Away Spa, with its iridescent lighting, do indeed whisk you away to another world.

The bottom line
As far as convenience, comfort and style, W Bangkok has all the bases covered. It’s a short walk from world-renowned club Ku De Ta, as well as being close to Michelin-starred restaurant L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and high-end grocery store Dean & DeLuca. It’s in the business district but the shopping district is nearby, as is the centre of town. The facilities are excellent, the rooms are awesome and the surrounds sensational. W-hy not stay here?
